Where is Les Deux Alpes?

Before we go into details regarding getting to Les Deux Alpes, let’s first see where the resort is actually located.

The internationally renowned resort of Les Deux Alpes is located in the heart of the French Alps, specifically in the Oisans region. Offering great altitude, it has a top skiable elevation point of more than 3,600 metres and features a vertical drop of 2,300 metres which makes it one of the most impressive skiing areas in the Alps.

The two Alps named in the resort’s title do not actually refer to mountains as people often think, but instead, the two villages of Venosc and Mont de Lans that can be found at the southern and northern tips of the resort.

The resort was originally founded in 1925 and was first known as Le Berarde.

Despite this, people initially took a little while to start taking the resort seriously. This was largely due to the fact that the first ski lift (essentially just a tow rope) broke after just 15 minutes.

However, after the Second World War, the resort really started to take off. A ski school opened its doors, the name was changed and the first gondola was unveiled in 1956.

By the 1970s and 80s, the resort was booming and featured more than 40 hotels and 46 ski lifts that are spread across the region.

Nowadays, Les Deux Alpes is the largest ski resort in the region and is the second oldest resort in the whole of France after Chamonix. It has also established a great reputation for being great for snowfall and it’s wonderful apres ski options that people can enjoy after they’ve spent time on the slopes.

Plus, as well as the skiing, there are a variety of other alpine sports and activities that can be enjoyed by visitors.

Shared transfers will see you share one of our comfortable vehicles with others who are going to the same destination.

There are two types of shared transfers that you can choose from.

This includes:

  • Fixed point shared transfers – Our fixed point transfers will see our drivers take a set route, stopping at various resorts along the way including Les Deux Alpes. • Door to door shared transfers – Alternatively, you could opt for door to door shared transfers. Much like fixed point shared transfers, this option will follow a set route however you will also receive a last-minute minivan that will cover the final part of your journey, and take you directly to the door of your accommodation.
