Guide To_ Skiing In Charmonix

FROM THE AIRPORT TO YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY IN CHAMONIX

Chamonix is the most renowned and famous town in the French Alps because it is home to Mont Blanc, Europe’s largest mountain. It sits at an average 1000 m altitude, with its highest point at a staggering 3,842 m altitude at the top of the Aiguille du Midi ski lift, with amazing views over Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc, and the whole Chamonix Valley.

  • On Mont Blanc, take the Aiguille du Midi cable car for views, skiing, and watching alpinists.
  • Mer de Glace: Travel to the longest glacier in the French Alps on the Train du Montenvers.
  • For dining: Enjoy local and Italian cuisine at Rose Point, Le Monchu, Chez Paolo, Poco Loco, and Le Vert Lodge.
  • Après-ski: For lively music and drinks, visit La Folie Douce at Savoy piste and Chambre Neuf.

Chamonix has a variety of ski areas, including Grand Montets, Le Tours, Brevent, Flegere, and Les Houches, which are known for off-piste, glacier, and steep skiing. Beginners can start at nursery slopes Les Planards and Le Savoy, or they can enjoy Les Houches’ gentle slopes. Flegere and Brevent offer scenic valley views and varied runs, while Le Tour provides sunny slopes and a new cable car. For advanced skiers, Grand Montets is ideal for challenging red and black pistes, off-piste skiing, and glacier skiing.

Chamonix has many hotels to choose from, depending on your preferences, budget, and group. The town centers, while more expensive, offer a fantastic nightlife and nice places to go out. Les Houches is a wonderful place if you are traveling with family, with ski-in and ski-out options. Argentiere is ideal because of its proximity to Grands Montets. For a more budget-friendly option, you can consider Cham Sud. When it comes to hotels, the most popular are The Eden, Hotel Lanchers, Heliopic Hotel & SpPA, Hotel La Castel, and Grand Hôtel des Alpes.
