Chamonix is the most renowned and famous town in the French Alps because it is home to Mont Blanc, Europe’s largest mountain. It sits at an average 1000 m altitude, with its highest point at a staggering 3,842 m altitude at the top of the Aiguille du Midi ski lift, with amazing views over Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc, and the whole Chamonix Valley.

Les Houches is a wonderful place if you are traveling with family, with ski-in and ski-out options. Argentiere is ideal because of its proximity to Grands Montets. For a more budget-friendly option, you can consider Cham Sud. The easiest way to get to Chamonix is by Transfer, travelling on the A41 its the easiest way to reach the resort. Due to limited parking access available in the resort, if you travel with a transfer company you can choose a central or door to door transfer and not have to worry about parking or driving conditions. Whether you visit during the summer or winter, you will find lots of family friendly activities to do here. The town itself has many restaurants to choose from, from easy takeaways to enjoy your in self catered apartment or dine in. La Folie Douce also has a great play area for children here, so you enjoy apres ski while your children enjoy the great little play area. If you a family Les Houches is a great ski area for beginners so why not look at this beautiful village just 10 minutes by bus from the centre of Chamonix & very easily accessible.
Chamonix is about 99 kms from Geneva Airport, which is about 1 hour & 15 minutes travelling time.
Chamonix is known for being expensive however in saying that, it’s not the most expensive resort with others being more pricey; St Mortiz, Val D’isere and Courchevel 1850.
The reason for this is because Chamonix is one of the oldest and most renowned ski resorts, as well as being home to Mont Blanc.
