Top Things to Do in La Rosiere

La Rosiere has become renowned for authentic ski breaks and being famous for the only French and Italian connected ski resort, allows you to ski both in France & Italy on one holiday. Families have grown to love La Rosiere with its friendly and passionate locals making it the perfect escape to explore the beautiful mountain region of Espace San Bernardo.

If you want a real life mountain experience coupled with savoyard cheese fondue we would recommend visiting the Village Igloo La Rosière and you can even stay here if you want overnight. Alternatively if that sounds a little bit too cold for you, then don’t worry we would also recommend Le Solario and L’Alpage At The Alparena Hotel where you enjoy cosy Mountain brasserie with a panoramic terrace sitting at 2000m altitude.

Le Flocon is another great choice, enjoying a street food menu on steroids, everything from Pancakes, asian nibbles, pastas to pizzas. The deck outside and views of Mont Pourri or even catch a game of Bowling here to entertain the kids (or big kids at heart).

If you’re looking for a combination of tasty bar food with live music that looks no further than Le Comptoir. You can enjoy tasty bar eats, maybe catch a game on a pool table, enjoy time on the outdoor patio with mountain views with great live music & DJs late into the night.

LA ROSIERE

Let’s start with the basics, where is La Rosiere?

La Rosiere is located in the Espace San Bernardo region.  Like many resorts in the region, La Rosiere is actually in the French Alps but is close to the border with Italy & Switzerland.

Given the high altitude of this resort it provides guests with one of the longest ski seasons in the whole of Europe, meaning the slopes can be enjoyed all winter without a worry of snow conditions. Along with the neighbouring resort of Les Arcs & La Thuile there are endless pistes to explore.

La Rosiere is extremely popular due to its renowned sunny resort that has fantastic conditions all winter. It is perfect for families with the cruisey blues and greens that make up the majority of the ski pistes.

However in 2018 new chairlifts were installed at Mont Valaisan which opened more choice, freedom and extreme challenges for those adventure seekers. With Heliskiing being approved here in france the only place to this due to its connection with La Thuile in the Aosta Valley make it popular for thrill seekers

La Rosiere is sitting at 1850 attitude with the highest point being at 2800m
The prime skiing season in Tignes typically runs from early December to early May. However, the exact timing can vary depending on snow conditions.

Tignes is accessible by road and is well-connected to major airports. Regular private and shared transfers are available from Chambery Airport, Geneva Airport and Lyon Airport. Shuttle services and taxis are available for transfers from airports to the resort.

You’d be glad to know that Tignes receives a great amount of snow each season. You can expect around 561 cm to fall on an annual basis. This is another reason why the resort is regarded as one of the most popular in the Alps and Europe as a whole.
Yes there are ski schools to choose from such as Evolution 2 and ESF and many other schools to choose from.
Yes this is perfect for beginners and then as you progress intermediates. Majority of the slopes are green & blues runs. We often hear from guests that their skiing improved and progressed after having a holiday here. But don’t worry there are a few black and red runs if some of your group are on the advanced level of skiing.
Yes there are plenty of activities for all tastes on a winter holiday. Snowshoeing, sledding, ice diving, helicopter rides & hot air balloon rides too. If you prefer to keep a bit more simple, there is the ice rink, indoor swimming pool and plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.
No matter what time of year you visit, La Rosiere is an extremely family-friendly choice. The resort features a wide range of family activities and amenities including kid-friendly restaurants, events and even child-care options if you would like some time to yourself. Rest assured your little one will be looked after and you’ll be able to enjoy the slopes with complete peace of mind.
La Rosiere is split into two areas. Even though it’s a small resort there is the old charming area and the refurbished new area. There is a great mix of high end chalets to self catered properties available.
Ofcourse, ski equipment is available to hire whilst you’re in La Rosiere. We recommend Skiset, our partnership with affords give 50% off for all our customers on equipment including skis, snowboards, boots, and everything else
Ski passes are available for La Rosiere and if you are planning to venture to Italy throughout your trip to the Aosta Valley of La Thuile then you purchase your ski pass to include this. Alternatively you can always purchase a single day add on for La Thuile if you prefer.
Each Monday the ESF Ski instructors in La Rosiere will provide a gorgeous display of skiing & magic with their torchlit descents. Not every resort has this just because there is ESF school there, so don’t miss out & make sure you get to add this to your memorable stay.
