Where is Val Thorens

Val Thorens can be found in the heart of the French Alps, and is famed for being the highest ski resort in Europe. Located at an altitude of around 2,300 metres, it is part of the iconic Three Valleys ski area that provides access to more than 600km of slopes that attract skiers and snowboarders from around the world.

Established in 1971, the resort was designed as a purpose-built facility in order to maximise accessibility to many high-altitude slopes. Its strategic location coupled with its state-of-the-art infrastructure quickly made it a favourite destination for all winter sports enthusiasts. Over the intervening decades, the resort has evolved into a world-class area while still maintaining its focus on skiing excellence and providing innovative tourism experiences.

If you’re planning a visit to Val Thorens, we’d recommend flying into Geneva Airport in Switzerland. From here, it is a manageable two hours and 45 minutes to the resort. While you can drive yourself by hiring a car, it is a challenge. The mountain roads can be treacherous and wheel chains are essential.

Instead, using an airport transfer is considered the best transportation method.

At Alpine Fleet, we provide visitors with two transfer options – private and shared transfers.

Private transfers are exactly how they sound, and involve using a fully private vehicle to get you to your destination. Once you arrive at Geneva Airport, you’ll be met by one of our experienced drivers who’ll take you straight to the resort. You’ll be able to enjoy full access to one of our comfortable vehicles and take in the stunning mountain views along the way.

Then, you’ll be dropped off directly at your accommodation which makes the entire journey as easy as possible.

Alternatively, you can opt for a shared transfer.

This option follows a similar format to private transfers. However, instead of a private car, you’ll share a transfer with others who are going to the same destination or resorts nearby. Our driver will follow a set route, stopping at a variety of neighbouring resorts on the way to Val Thorens.

And, once we get to your resort, you can also opt for a private minivan to take you the final few miles to your accommodation of choice.
