Morzine In Summer

Morzine in Summer

Skiing holidays are great fun for all the family, and while many people think that you can only enjoy skiing in the winter months, this is not the case.

As one of the most popular skiing regions in the world, the Alps’ slopes can be enjoyed all year round, including during the summer.

Morzine is one of the most popular resorts in the Alps, and is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a summer getaway. While the snow may have receded somewhat in the valleys surrounding Morzine, the slopes at the mountain’s peaks still have plenty and have optimum conditions in place to enjoy a bit of skiing.

In this article, the team here at Alpine Fleet has put together a comprehensive guide to Morzine in the summer.

Read on to find out more.

Morzine-In-Summer

Where is Morzine?

Before we delve into the vast array of summer activities in Morzine that can be enjoyed by all the family, it’s important to understand exactly where Morzine is located.

Morzine is a commune in France that can be found in the French Alps. More specifically, the bustling village is nestled between the stunning Lake Geneva and the magnificent Mont Blanc mountain.

It is part of the larger Portes du Soleil ski area that combines a number of great ski resorts, and, along with other resorts in the region, is accessible via a fleet of ski lifts and cable cars that can get you to the top of the peaks.

While Morzine is based in France, the best way to get to the resort is by flying into Geneva Airport in Switzerland. From here, you can then take a private or shared transfer over the border into France and directly to the resort. It takes around one hour and 15 minutes to reach the resort, and by utilising transfers you remove the stress of having to navigate the challenging mountain roads yourself.

Morzine in the Summer

Morzine is a vibrant, beautiful part of the Alps, and it is always thriving during the summer months.

Between the months of July and September, you can expect temperatures of around 20°C in Morzine and it is an idyllic location for couples, families, thrillseekers and everyone no matter the type of holiday you’re looking to plan.

During these summer months, Morzine can be viewed in two specific ways. Firstly, it is a quintessential alpine village that is full of stunning, traditional chalets that overlook stunning mountain views. From luscious green meadows to grand pine trees, you can marvel at, it’s the perfect location for a summer stroll and to take in the beautiful scenery on offer in this part of the world.

On the other hand, Morzine in the summer is the ultimate outdoor playground. While you can still scale the slopes where the temperature drops and skiing is still very much the state of play, there is also a wide range of other activities you can enjoy.

We’ll explore some of these in the section below.

Things to do in Morzine in summer

In addition to skiing, there are a whole host of other things you can do during the summer in Morzine.

This includes the following:

Mountain biking

Swap skis for a bicycle and enjoy some of the best mountain biking trails in the whole of Europe with mountain biking in Morzine.

There is a wide range of different terrains available for people of all abilities including downhill, free-ride and cross-country cycling. This means that whether you’re used to getting on your bike or brand-new to the activity of mountain biking, you’ll be able to find a trail and terrain that best suits you and the group you’re with.

Mountain biking is a great way to get some additional mountain views while also staying active.

Walking

If you prefer something that keeps you active but is perhaps less intensive than mountain biking, there are plenty of alpine walking and hiking trails that can be enjoyed.

Most Morzine holidays will provide you with access to something called a Multi Pass. This Multi Pass doesn’t just give you access to Morzine, but also more than 20 mountain lifts across the Portes du Soleil ski area.

This means you have access to more than 200km of walking trails you can follow across a whole range of stunning valleys and even two countries as some hikes move through both France and Switzerland.

Avo Kart

If you’re really looking for ways to get your adrenaline fix, as well as skiing you can give the innovative activity of Avo Kart a go. An Avo Kart is a three-wheeled, hydraulic vehicle that positions the driver at a low centre of gravity.

These karts can be hired at Morzine, and driven throughout a 600m area of varying altitudes. Suitable for both snow and dirt roads, it’s always an exciting experience.

Climbing

The peaks at Morzine are not just suitable for skiing, but you can also scale them by climbing!

During the summer months when the rocks are warmer and dry, you can arrange a climbing activity that will give you the opportunity to climb real mountain walls. There are a number of options available depending on your ability, but we’d always recommend the Point de Nyon route that sees you summit Mount Ouzon as it gives you remarkable views of the Alps’ biggest mountain, Mont Blanc.

Yoga

If you want to take a break from the slopes and really take some time to breathe, then there are a whole host of yoga and fitness activities you can enjoy.

From group classes to individual sessions, reconnect with yourself and nature in one of the most tranquil places on earth.
