A Guide to Ski Festivals 2024-25

A Guide to Ski Festivals 2024/25

Millions of visitors flock to the Alps each year to enjoy a skiing trip.

As Europe’s biggest ski region (and of the most famous in the world) it’s perhaps no surprise that people from all around the globe head to the area to take on its vast array of impressive slopes and pistes.

In addition to the skiing, many alpine resorts also play host to incredible music festivals.

A great way to combine live music with stunning mountain views and winter sports, there are still several ski festivals in 2024 that are yet to take place.

In this article, we’ll outline the best skiing music festivals in 2024 and, by looking ahead, help you decide what ski festival in 2025 to go for.

Rise Festival: 7th - 14th December 2024

There’s still time to enjoy a ski festival in 2024.

Saving the best until the end of the year, Rise Festival provides visitors with a party at the top of the world and takes place in the French resort of Les Deux Alpes

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the event, and to celebrate a decade of partying they’ve gone all out with their line-up. It includes DJ sets and performances from some of the industry’s biggest names including Gorgon City, Sub Focus and Chase & Status.

Taking place just over a week before Christmas, it is likely to be the best skiing festival of 2024.

Snow Attack: 25th January - 1st February 2025

Staying with Les Deux Alpes, and Snow Attack is sure to get 2025 going with a bang.

With numerous party venues and locations set up across the resort, there will be something for everyone from unmissable glacier parties to events that take place right on the mountainside.

While the line-up is yet to be announced, past performers have included the likes of Sigala, Aalson and Brina Knauss.

Tomorrowland Winter: 15th - 22nd March 2025

A spin-off of the iconic electronic dance festival in Antwerp, Tomorrowland Winter has taken place since 2019 at the Alpes d’Huez resort in France.

Combining a week of snow, skiing and snowboarding alongside the festival’s signature electronic music, hundreds of the world’s most popular EDM artists are expected to descend on the resort. There will also be a wide range of stages across indoor and outdoor venues as well as on the side of the mountain itself.

Snowboxx: 15th - 22nd March 2025

The French resort of Avoriaz will once again host Snowboxx early next year, in what will be one of the most highly sought-after ski music festivals of 2025.

As the highest resort in the Portes du Soleil region, it boasts 650km of pistes, 200 lifts and access to resorts in both France and Switzerland. Many of the accommodation options also mean that guests will be able to ski directly to the stages to enjoy the show.

Zermatt Unplugged: 8th - 12th April 2025

Zermatt Unplugged is an acoustic music festival that takes place at the Swiss resort of Zermatt each year. Well-known for its legendary after-parties that continue long into the night after the main stages have finished, previous performers who have starred at the event include the likes of James Arthur, Kate Nash, Birdy and much more.

Things to consider when visiting a skiing festival

You’re sure to have a great experience when attending a ski festival, but before you go you should make sure you’re fully prepared.

Some things to consider include:

How to get to the resort

Many ski resorts are located at high altitudes and in difficult-to-reach places. Public transport is often limited in such areas and hiring a car could also be a challenge for those unfamiliar with mountain roads.

With this in mind, we’d always recommend booking transfers to get you to the resort. At Alpine Fleet, we provide leading private and shared transfers that promise to get you to your resort in comfort and style.

Stay safe

While you should always make sure you have fun when attending a skiing music festival, it’s also important that you and your group stay safe.

Drinking and apres ski is a big part of any skiing trip and this is likely to be more of a focus when a festival is involved. But remember to drink responsibly and monitor your alcohol consumption as accidents can occur on the slopes if you’re not careful.

Never walk in the mountains alone, stay hydrated and keep your wits about you at all times. Also, make sure to always follow the festival rules as they are designed to keep you protected.

Decide how much skiing you plan to do

It might seem strange but not everyone who goes on a skiing trip actually wants to go skiing.

This will be more likely if the trip is also being combined with a music festival as some people may only want to attend for the music.

Whatever the case, take some time to assess how much skiing you think you will embark on before you go. This way, you can decide which type of ski pass is most appropriate for you.

For example, you may buy a half day pass rather than a full day.

Prepare your ski clothes

Ski resorts are cold, so make sure you pack appropriate clothes.

You’ll need base layers, mid-layers and outerlayers to keep warm and ensure you can fully enjoy the festival and the skiing.

You’ll need:

  • Jackets
  • Trousers
  • A ski helmet
  • Ski socks
  • Goggles
  • Gloves or mittens
  • A neck warmer
  • Sun glasses

Despite the cold temperatures, the sun is often very strong at ski resorts so you should still where sun cream to keep you protected from its harsh UV rays.

As you’re attending a festival, you may also want to take some extra accessories such as fancy dress outfits.
