La Plagne is based in the Paradiski area of the French Alps and has over 225 km of pistes to explore surrounded by Vanoise National Park. La Plagne is connected with Les Arcs by the Vanoise Cable car for even more skiing and snowboarding pistes to explore.
This La Plagne ski resort has great family-friendly skiing and it’s also got a very exciting Bobsleigh at the La Plagne Olympic track if you’re feeling adventurous. La Plagne has a number of villages that make up La Plagne including, Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre, Plagne 2100, Plagne 2000, Plagne Soleil and Bellecote. There are also two villages outside the main area of La Plagne called Montchavin and Les Coches.
This is one of the largest resorts for accommodation and boosting of 57,000 beds and over 2.5 million visitors during the winter period. The lifts system also has over 76 ski lifts and majority of them at 8 seaters to ensure ques are kept to a minimum.

As well as taking you to the ski resort at the start of your trip, you’re going to want to get back to the airport at the end.

TOP THINGS TO DO IN LA PLAGNE
La Plagne is a renowned beginner-friendly resort with plenty of green and blue ski slopes being located on a plateau high above the treeline while having the option to Ski all the way to Les Arcs via the double decker Vanoise Express cable car.
La Plagne is the only resort in France to boast a bobsleigh track which was built in 1992 for the Albertville Olympic Games, you can experience the thrill of being an olympian while you’re on holiday or maybe you will be adventurous enough to try the zipline through the trees from Plagne 2000 to Plagne Centre for 600m descent through trees, spectacular views and just overall fun, they even let you take your skis with you in winter.
La Plagne is also famous for the Ice Grotto caves at the top of the Plagne Bellecôte glacier at 3417m, you can reach here via the cable car and then access the grotto. La Plagne however has closed off skiing on the Glacier in February 2024 for environmental protection so when your legs are a bit sore from a few days of skiing this can be a nice change to visit the glacier and ensure minimum impact on the glacier to preserve it for years to come.
La Plagne has plenty of choices for bars and afternoon fun. Every day from 3pm La Bergerie (the Folie Douce of La Plagne) is buzzing with flares, live music and sax and tones of Atmosphere. It’s not one to be missed when visiting La Plagne – situated in the perfect mountain top you can ski home to all the different areas of La Plagne from here.
If you want to be a little more closer to home with a La Plagne twist then the La Mine Bar at Plagne 1800 is for you. This is an English themed pub however decorated as a mine, everything from the walls like an old mine, old mining carts for tables, pick axes on wall. Definitely worth a visit on your next visit to La Plagne.
If you are looking for a last minute ski trip towards the end of the season La Plagne hosts the Subcimes Festival and is renowned for large artists who attend each season for their closing week celebrations.

ALTERNATIVES TO TRANSFERS
The other option holiday makers have when travelling from Geneva to La Plagne by Train. You can arrive at Aime Gare Routiere and then you will need to organise a local taxi to continue the journey up to hairpin bends to La Plagne.
Car hire is another option too, however if you travel via car hire you will need to locate your destination and ensure that you know how to fit the safety requirements such as chains. When you arrive at the resort by car you will need to locate parking as not all properties have parking available and parking can be very limited during the peak seasons, so make sure you do your research on where you will park.
